Did you hear the story about the Montana middle school teacher who was riding his bike to the school and end up being struck by a bear?
Jim Litz, the school teacher, estimated that he was traveling at about 25 mph last Monday when he spotted a black bear about 10 feet in front of him as he crested a rise. With no time to stop he ended up crashing right into the bear!
During the crash he tumbled over the handlebars and his helmet hit the bear’s back as the two went cartwheeling down the road.
The frightened bear rolled over Litz’s head, cracking his helmet, and scratched his back before it scampered up a hill above the road.
Luckily Litz’s wife happened to drive by shortly after the crash and she took him to the hospital. Litz had hoped to return to the school where he teaches science by last Friday.
